Infrared Vs Traditional Saunas The Differences

There are a few differences in the infrared vs traditional saunas. There is a temperature difference and a difference of how heat is delivered. The results can be different as well. Which is best is up to the individual and what they seek. For some a sauna is not a sauna without that hiss of steam being released into the air.

The traditional saunas can reach temperatures of 200 degrees or more. This temperature produces sweat very quickly. The air is steamed by water being poured over heated rocks. For some the intense heat and can make it difficult to breathe. For others it can help improve the sinuses and respiratory function. The surface of the skin is heated and it is able to expel about 3% of the toxins in the body.

The way the traditional sauna is built usually takes several days to build. There are now some that are prefabricated. The will take only a few hours to put together. Cedar wood is the wood normally used. It stands up well to the heat and humidity. An electrician will be needed to install a dedicated socket that is about 15 to 20 amps. It does take significantly longer to heat. It can take up to 40 minutes. Typically it will cost about 20 cents more per use.

The infrared sauna has a temperature that maxs out at about 150 degrees. The heat is not as intense as the traditional sauna. It a milder experience and feels more like lying in the warm sun. The skin is heated directly and it penetrates deeper. It can help expel up to 20% of the toxins in the body. It increases oxygen flow and stimulates the metabolism with infrared therapy. Joints may benefit as well. The infrared will make you sweat but it may take between 10 to 20 minutes to achieve it.

This type of sauna comes as pre-fabricated panels that can be installed in just a couple of hours. These panels will either snap or screw together. There are units that will plug into an existing socket without the additional amperage. These are usually the smaller units. The larger ones will need a dedicated plug. These saunas heat up quickly at as little as ten minutes but not more than 20 minutes.

Both of the saunas are easy to maintain. There is a difference when discussing a commercial sized sauna but for home use not much. The traditional will need to be allowed to air dry or towels can be used to dry the floor. Both can be washed with just water and mild detergent to keep them clean.

Dehydration is a possibility with the amount of sweating that occurs. Drink water before stepping into the sauna and after getting out. While inside take a drink every 15 minutes. A doctor should be consulted before using one if there are any health conditions. If there has been a recent heart attack or stroke, the sauna should be avoided completely.

The choice of infrared vs traditional saunas is personal. Those who like the high heat and humidity will go for the traditional sauna. Those who like something milder, and still have many of the same benefits, will go for the infrared sauna. In most other aspects they are essentially the same

Do Not Forget To Visit The Doctors Office

Adriana Noton

Everyone visits a doctor at least once in their lifetime. If someone gets hurt or sick they will most likely go to the doctor so they can feel better. People also go to the doctor for yearly check ups to make sure that they are in good health. There are also a lot of people who do not visit doctors because they are scared of doctors or scared of finding out that they have a serious illness or disease.

Even if you are scared to visit a doctor it is still good to go anyways. A lot of people do not like finding out that they might have something wrong with them but the thing is, it is better to find out that you have something wrong early on then later. Finding out earlier can help to cure the illness or disease easier and quicker.

If you are too nervous to go to the doctor alone, then it could be a good idea to bring a close friend or family member. This way they can keep you company while waiting to be called back. They can go back with you as well if it makes you feel more comfortable. This way they can be an extra set of ears while the doctor is talking to you and can also ask any questions you make not think to ask or are too nervous to ask.

People should start visiting the doctor when they are a baby. A baby needs to get its shots and immunizations. A doctor can examine a baby and make sure it is healthy and progressing the way a normal baby should. If there are any issues the doctor can set up a plan to help the process along.

There are many different types of medical professions. There are specialize in skin care, feet, ears, nose, throat, cancer, heart issues, eyes, and so much more. There is pretty much a doctor for everything. If you are not sure what kind of doctor to visit for your specific need then it is best to visit a general doctor and he/she will refer you to a specialized doctor if necessary.

A doctor is a very caring person. They spend the majority of their days caring for sick or hurt people. They are not judgemental and have probably seen just about everything. Their main concern is to diagnose the problem and to find an acceptable cure.

If you are ever experiencing an emergency and the doctor office is closed, then it is best to seek help from the local hospital. There should be a 24 hour emergency room with a doctor staffed that can assist you. After your hospital visit it is usually a good idea to follow up with your regular doctor during normal business hours.

Visiting the doctors office does not need to be a scary thing. They are there to help you, not to judge you. If you are worried or nervous then it is okay to bring a friend or family member. Just remember, it is better to go to the doctor and find out that nothing is wrong then to not go and then end up with something that is no longer curable.

How Massage Therapy Techniques Benefit You

Massage therapy techniques have been part of the healing process for centuries. Long before traditional medicine and physical therapy massage was used to allow the body to access its own power to heal. Physical and emotional trauma as well as illness were cured with massage as a huge part of the treatment plan. This is still how such therapy is used today, and it has been scientifically validated.

The increase in circulation is beneficial as it helps to increase the oxygenated healing power of red and white blood cells. Swelling and inflammation can be controlled with careful use of some techniques. Infections don’t last as long because the white blood cells are traveling faster and releasing the waste material more frequently. The use of massage to heal from physical and emotional health issues is a well founded and solid part of a complete health plan.

Because trauma to the body causes a significant increase in muscle tension, you’ll often find that this type of therapy will help alleviate some of the pain caused by the injury. The muscles are tight in order to protect the body from further injury, but over a period of time they can cause additional and unnecessary pain from their position. This can also decrease your range of motion which can cause further health problems if left untreated. Massage therapy can help reduce the pain and increase the range of motion to the area.

Body massage is a good way to increase your body awareness and help you eliminate potential pain before it starts. Especially when you are recovering from trauma you will find that your posture tends to change. Naturally, as you compensate, the change in posture can become very painful and increase the tension in all of your muscles. Relaxing the muscles can improve your overall posture while alleviating pain.

Science has been able to determine that massage therapy techniques can be used to help stimulate the immune system and improve body function. The ancient practice has increased the overall quality of health for many with short term, long term, and even terminal conditions.

Physical benefits are not the only positive aspect of a therapeutic session. Common emotional issues can be helped with the practice, especially conditions like chronic anxiety and depression. Anxiety can easily become a self perpetuating state. With an increase in your level of anxiety your brain sends out specific chemicals to your muscles. Your body will tense and you will become increasingly aware of your surroundings. This is how the flight or fight response is initiated. There are techniques used today that can help decrease overall anxiety, relieve the aches and pains that accompany it, and help you feel more in control.

There are techniques used on those with depression that can help stimulate positive thoughts. When a session is over, many patients with depression feel relaxed but pleasant. It is possible for a massage therapist to teach you some brief self massage tricks to help you maintain a more positive place in between sessions.

Of course, massage therapy techniques are not just for the injured, ill, or those with a conflicted emotional state. Promoting well being from head to toe starts by taking care of the body before there are issues. Using massage as a way to nurture yourself can play a vital role in maintaining your healthy body and spirit.

Turn On The Heat And Experience The Many Sauna Benefits For Skin Conditions

There are numerous sauna benefits for skin conditions. It is widely known that a sauna provides relaxation for the body and can eradicate harmful toxins. But many people are unaware of the beneficial effects on the skin.

Saunas are also referred to as sweat baths. They have been used by humans since the Stone Age. Saunas today are still considered to be a way of maintaining emotional and physical health. In a lot of cultures, the sauna experience is viewed as a social event. Modern day scientists and doctors have conceded that induced sweating does have benefits. Our ancestors knew this instinctively.

The skin is the body’s biggest organ. It is constantly exposed to varying temperatures, dangerous pollutants and the effects of sun and wind. A regular sauna bath can rejuvenate, revitalize and invigorate the skin and keep it glowing with health.

When the body detoxifies, roughly thirty percent of toxins are released from skin pores while sweating. A sauna bath increases the amount of sweat and expands the pores. This encourages the elimination of additional toxins. The body heats up to sweating point after just two minutes in a sauna, therefore detoxification begins quickly.

Our bodies accumulate dangerous toxins and harmful free radicals. Some can be released through the kidneys. The kidneys however are unable to expel toxins that have gathered in body tissues. These can only be expelled through sweat. If you live in a hot climate with high humidity, your body will sweat profusely on its own. But if you don’t, a regular sauna is an ideal alternative.

There are two sauna choices – dry or wet. Both produce the same advantages. The temperature in a sauna will step up the heart rate by as much as 50 percent. This enables blood to pump through every organ at an increased rate. Of course, being an organ, the skin also derives benefit from this acceleration.

With the increased flow of blood, the skin absorbs additional oxygen and important nutrients. It will feel rejuvenated and look healthy. The myth that saunas leave skin rough and dry is indeed a myth. In fact, the skin is left smooth, soft and glowing. Furthermore, a sauna bath can improve the elasticity of internal and external scarring.

Sauna bathing can also help problems like eczema and acne, as well as cuts, wounds and scrapes. The contributing factor once again is the boosted blood circulation. Blood cells are recharged which speeds up the healing process. If you suffer with skim blemishes like acne, regular sauna bathing should bring pleasing results. The breakdown of cellulite cells can also be significantly accelerated.

While there are many sauna benefits for skin conditions, there are also many benefits for physical and emotional wellbeing. Just one sauna session of 30 minutes can burn 300-600 calories so this can be helpful if you are trying to lose weight. Many body aches and pains are the result of accumulated physical stress. These can be relieved by the heat of a sauna. To relieve emotional stress, a relaxing sauna is ideal.

Becoming a Registered Massage Therapist in Canada

Massage therapy is one of the most popular jobs on the market today, especially in Canada. This is because, unlike the United States, a Registered Massage Therapist can work across provinces with very little additional training.

Today, massage therapy can be a great field to work in for the right person who desires to offer such healing services. In fact, to add on to such training, most individuals work through an online course and testing in order to do so.

Also, one of the newer organizations which identifies as the National Massage Therapy Alliance has replaced an older alliance. In addition, as each alliance requires their therapists to complete coursework through one of the affiliated programs in the area, with the right training and additional testing one can provide such services in all Canadian provinces. In order to become registered and do so, one must be a successful graduate from an accredited massage school which is recognized by the Canadian province in which one intends to provide such services.

Although, as many individuals who have ever attended any form of massage training can tell you, especially in Canada, one must continue completing coursework over time. In addition, if one wishes to work in relation to different styles of massage and techniques, one can do so by completing additional coursework over time. At which time, one can hold on their registration while attempting to learn and work with different massage techniques.

With regards as to where to obtain such coursework, there are a variety of programs offered in several styles of massage all across Canada. So, if one can pinpoint an area in which one is interested in providing services, even if only until one completes additional coursework, one can have more flexibility in doing so.

Although, massage therapy can definitely be an excellent field in which to work which offers a great deal of independence as well as monetary support if one is good at the process. As in Ontario, requirements are that individuals complete 2200 hours of coursework before becoming a registered massage therapist. However, as one is generally working as an apprentice, one can learn a great deal about massage styles and techniques by doing so.

As of the first of April, 2009, Canadian Ministers stated that those working in such a field may now cross-train and work in a number of Canadian provinces with the right training. Also, if one has excellent history and training, doing so can land one many jobs.

Therefore, if one plans to become a therapist in Ontario and is already registered, additional coursework is required periodically to keep both a license and registration in tact. Therefore, as long as one has no grievances against others, is professional in demeanor and has permission, there are a number of ways in which one can make money at the same time as training to become a registered massage therapist.

As for costs, while nowhere near expensive as the United States, going to school in Canada for massage can be less expensive. However, federal funding is only allowed to those on the Canadian council. Therefore, one may want to save and study the different forms of massage to decide which one is most interested in before beginning such training.

Whereas, if one can attend a school that is operated on a not-for-profit basis, one can pay as little as $500 to $700 in order to become a registered massage therapist. Still, whether one has paid training or is paying a reduced amount of tuition, massage therapy can be a great field. For, while one is assisting one to relax, one may also be helping the healing process of body, mind and soul, whether with or without the client’s knowledge.

Therefore, although one may have to spend a great deal of time in training to become a massage therapist in Canada, it is something many decide to do. As, by becoming a massage therapist, one can retain their independence, work the hours which one desires to work and can help people in the process. Something, not a lot of other jobs available today seem to offer, especially with the recent economic downturn.

Are There Any Sauna Benefits For Skin Conditions?

Most of us know that a sauna is able to relax the body and get rid of toxins. But what many don’t know is that a sauna can be tremendously beneficial to the skin.
The answer is yes, there are sauna benefits for skin conditions. Mankind has been using saunas, also known as sweat baths, since the days of the Stone Age. To this day, saunas are used all over the world as a way to keep the body in peak health, physically and emotionally. In some customs, the sauna is used as a social meeting place. Present day scientists and the medical profession are acknowledging the benefits of induced sweating – something our ancestors knew instinctively.

The skin is the largest organ of the body. As such, it is often exposed to sun, wind, varying temperatures and, of course, numerous pollutants in the air. Taking a sauna regularly can revitalize, rejuvenate and invigorate your skin. This can keep your skin glowing and healthy.

During detoxification, about 30 percent of toxins leave the body through skin pores when we sweat. Sauna bathing increases sweating which, in turn, enlarges the pores. This allows the release of more toxins. Once you are in the sauna, it only takes two minutes for the body to heat up to sweating point, so the detoxification process starts quickly.

The body builds up harmful toxins and free radicals. Some of these are eliminated via the kidneys. However the kidneys cannot get rid of toxins that are stored in body tissue. The only way these can be released is through sweating. Unless you live in a very humid climate, you will not sweat enough naturally, therefore a sauna is an excellent way to promote sweating.

There are two types of sauna bathing – wet or dry. Both essentially have the same beneficial effects. When you are in a sauna, your heart rate will increase by about 50 percent. This means that blood will pump through your organs and a faster rate. Being an organ, the skin will also be affected by this boost.

When blood flow is increased, the skin is able to receive extra nutrients and oxygen. This will leave it feeling rejuvenated and looking healthy. Contrary to what many believe, a sauna bath will also leave your skin soft and smooth.

Sauna bathing can help clear up skin blemishes such as acne and eczema, as well as cuts and scrapes. Once again, increased blood circulation is the contributing factor. Blood cells will be healthier so the healing process will speed up. If you suffer with skin problems like acne, spending time in a sauna on a regular basis should soon show an improvement.

In addition to sauna benefits for skin conditions, there are many other physical and mental benefits. For example, a session in a sauna can burn up to 300 calories which can help you lose weight. A build up of physical stress can result in a variety of bodily aches and pains. The heat and humidity provided by a sauna can diffuse pain and relax tired, sore muscles. You can also ease emotional stress by relaxing in a sauna.
